Cultural Development

This department plays a decisive role in the development of relevant concepts for the cultural development of the city of Gera. This includes participation in the updating of the cultural development plan or the elaboration of the museum development concept. This also includes the joint development and implementation of the city's cultural policy goals as well as the planning and implementation of strategic marketing campaigns for anniversaries and themed years, particularly in cooperation with the city's museums.

Cultural promotion

In the area of cultural promotion, it is important to maintain contacts and cooperate with institutional and independent cultural institutions, artists, clubs and associations. This includes not only support in the form of information and advice, but also project funding within the framework of the municipal cultural funding guidelines. The development, adaptation and updating of these also fall within this area of responsibility. This department is also responsible for drafting resolutions and justifying decisions relevant to cultural work to the Gera City Council.

Interface for museums

A key part of the department's work is to support museums, particularly with regard to dealing with administrative tasks. It takes the lead in coordinating joint events, such as the annual Museum Night, and also supports the museums with individual exhibition planning.
