Prerequisites:

• the legal and personal requirements for appointment as a civil servant are met
• the age of 35 has not yet been reached on the date of recruitment
• at least a bachelor's degree from a university or university of applied sciences or an equivalent degree in a subject suitable for the career can be proven
• a high degree of physical and mental resilience, social skills, motivation, ability to deal with conflict and assertiveness, commitment and performance orientation, verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to work shifts and on duty
• Possession of a class B driving license (class C desirable)

Health suitability for work in the emergency services of the professional fire department is determined during the selection process as part of an occupational medical examination.

Training content:

The training of candidates for the higher fire department is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Thuringian Fire Service Career, Training and Examination Regulations (ThürFwLAPO). It includes basic training and internships at the Gera professional fire department, other professional fire departments and authorities. In addition, courses must be completed at the Thuringian State Fire Brigade and Disaster Control School in Bad Köstritz. and at the Heyrothsberge Institute for Fire and Disaster Protection. The preparatory service concludes with the career examination for the higher fire department.
